Beginning with Bach's "Little Fugue," this mini-musical plot gives way to some of the biggest stories of all time. Written by local composer Rich Moriarty, "We That Wait" is a deeply felt orchestral song-cycle using poems from the American Civil War written by women. It will feature mezzo-soprano Emily Russell from the Virginia Opera. Ravel's ballet music explores the Greek-inspired mythical romance of "Daphnis et Chloé" and the concert concludes toward the divine in John Rutter's famous and uplifting "Gloria" featuring a chorus of over 100 singers!
“Of Love, Loss & The Divine” is sponsored in part by Cataldo Builders, Virginia Beach Arts & Humanities commission, Business Consortium for Arts Support, Virginia Commission for the Arts and National Endowment for the Arts.
